STONECREEK NEWS
A MONTHLY NEIGHBORHOOD NEWSLETTER JANUARY 2000
-----------------------------------------------------------
DIRECTOR'S CORNER:
2000 BUDGET APPROVED!
The Board of Directors approved the 2000 budget at their December meeting. The complete spreadsheet portion will be
published in an upcoming newsletter. Copies of the full budget (narrative and spreadsheet) are available from Borg
Property Services for the cost of copying and postage. A summary of the budget is:

Proposed Income $254,124.00
Total Operating Expense $224,143.00
Net Cash Flow $29,981.00

Note: The following capital expenditures are
included in the budget:

Common Wall Painting $5,000.00
Swimming Pool Tile $2,500.00
Kool Deck Repair $2,500.00
Tree Pruning $10,000.00
Scrubs/granite $1,000.00

ANNUAL MEETING TIME AGAIN
For your planning purposes, the Annual Meeting will be held in the first week of May, instead of at the end of May.
Hopefully, this will avoid some conflicts with graduations, vacations, etc.

We will hold our election of members to the Board of Directors at this May meeting. That means that once again, the HOA is now looking for candidates to be members of the Board of Directors. So, if you have given any thought to having an active role in the running of the Association, now is the time to let us know. Contact Sharon (Volunteer committee 480-497-8124) and a Board member will contact you to answer any of your questions. We meet once a month for about 2-3 hours.

FOR THE CURIOUS MINDS:
"FLOOD TEST" OF THE TENNIS COURTS
The final payment will be made to the contractor after the current cracks and bubbling are repaired.

ASSOCIATION ACTIVITY:
VANDALISM
$130.00 - 2 hours to clean a disgusting mess in the mens bathroom at the pool.
$43.00 - replace another fire extinguisher and the glass cover at the pool.

We have been notified that we will be reimbursed for the vandalism damage done to the water feature pumps (less $250
deductible) earlier this year.

CONTRACTS AWARDED
 Newsletter - Pat's Publishing

UPCOMING CONTRACTS
Replace all pool tiles. This work will be done while the pool is closed for the season,
 Cool Deck repairs,
Repair tennis court chain link fences,
Paint all the tennis court poles (light and fence)

As always, Stonecreek residents are encouraged to submit bids for any contracts that the Board of Directors will be
awarding. Prospective bidders can obtain bid specifications from Borg Property Services. All contractors must meet
appropriate license and insurance requirements.

THANK YOU FROM CUB SCOUT PACK 322
Michael Wurster, age 9, a member of Cub Scout Pack 322 and resident of Stonecreek, wishes to thank all the
homeowners who contributed to his holiday collection for the Child Crisis Center. Through your generosity he raised $300
for purchasing new toys for the boys and girls of the Crisis Center, who are unable to remain in their own home situations
for various reasons. Sandy Perkins, also a
Stonecreek resident, is Michael's Den Leader and Roger & Georgette Wurster are his parents.

FISH IN THE WATER FEATURE
Please do not put fish in the water feature as the chemicals used to control the algae will kill them.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE REPORT
Call Sharon Howes if you want information on a committee or want to join a committee (480-497-8124). Sharon will then
handle the volunteer communications between the Board of Directors, the homeowners and Borg Property Services.

ARCHITECTURAL CONTROL COMMITTEE REPORT
Call George, Frank, or Borg Property Services on ACC issues. George and Frank deal with ACC issues only; they are
not responsible for handling other issues - like complaints about the HOA etc. For the fastest response call the proper
committee or Borg Property Services.

The committee processed the following requests:
RECEIVED: 3 APPROVED: 1
DENIED: 0 PENDING: 6

Remember that the CC&R's require ACC approval before starting projects that will change the appearance of your home
or yard. You can get ACC forms from:

(1) Borg Property Services at 480-456-6927
(2) George at 480-926-3619 (Stonecreek Resident) or
(3) Frank at 480-926-4412 (Stonecreek Resident),

HOA WEB PAGE
There was very little activity on our web site this month, probably because everyone was busy with the holidays. We add
new links every month and encourage everyone to visit the site often. If you have something that you would like the
community to discuss on the web page, there is a section for that use. Many other communities have made great use of
this feature. It is open to anyone to open a discussion on any topic they would like a discussion on.

GET INVOLVED:
We still need help on the ACC committee. Like the Landscape committee, they generally meet once a month to act
upon the ACC requests submitted.

You may contact the Volunteer Committee for further information on a committee or for joining a committee.

MONTHLY HOMEOWNER TIP:
"The Safe Way to Put out a Fire in a Pan
By Marie Scotti
For Arizona Senior World

How to put out a fire in a pan;
Don't move the pan.
Turn off the burners and the fan in the range hood if it's on.
Put on an oven mitt or protect your hand with a hot pad. Slide the lid of the pan or
use a platter that is larger than the diameter of the pan over it to smother the flames.
It's important to slide the covering over the fire, because if you pop it on top the flames
may spread. If the flames persist pour baking soda on the fire. Once it's out let the pan
cool before removing it from the stove."

POE, EDGAR ALLAN
"Best known for his poems and short fiction, Edgar Allan Poe, b. Boston, Jan. 19, 1809, d. Oct. 7, 1849, deserves more
credit than any other writer for the transformation of the short story from anecdote to art. He virtually created the detective
story and perfected the psychological thriller. He also produced some of the most influential literary criticism of his
time--important theoretical statements on poetry and the short story--and has had a worldwide influence on literature."(1)

BOSTON POPS ORCHESTRA
"Originating in 1885 as the Promenade Concerts, the Boston Pops Orchestra was organized by members of the Boston
Symphony Orchestra to provide the people of Boston with music after the regular symphony season ended, a practice it
continues today. The orchestra became known as the Boston "Pops" because its repertoire consisted mostly of the lighter
and more popular classics. In 1930, Arthur Fiedler was appointed permanent conductor, a position he held until his death
in 1979. In January 1980, John Williams became conductor. In addition to presenting lighter classics, the Boston Pops
performs show tunes, folk music, and popular songs from its large repertoire. These performances are frequently televised.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
CRIME PREVENTION
This is a good time of the year to get you block watch active. With the holidays come presents and thieves. Block Watch
captains should get their groups together again so everyone can get reacquainted and be prepared to watch each other's
homes. If you don't belong to a block watch, get your neighbors together and call the Gilbert Police Department and they
will get you started. (If nothing else, get to know your neighbors and watch each others homes!) It's also a good time of the
year to keep your doors and windows locked and your garage doors closed and locked. It's also a good idea to have all of
the outside locks rekeyed every three years. This can be done for around $30 total. Call a locksmith. If you see anything
suspicious, call 911 immediately. The police would rather investigate something that looked suspicious but turned out to be
harmless, rather than investigate a crime that could have been prevented with a phone call.

DID YA KNOW? :
That the ACC committee meets on the first Saturday of each month. Plan on submitting your ACC forms to Borg Property
Services so that the committee has them in time for their meeting.

That the Board of Directors will not meet at Patterson Elementary School for the rest of the year. The school will be
holding training meetings at night so we cannot obtain meeting space. Continue to call Nancy to find out where we have
meeting space.

That Arizona's first newspaper was the Weekly Arizonian, founded in 1859 at Tubac.

That it is bvelieved that the first people to reisede in what is now Gilbert were the HO HO Kam Indians? (3)

REMINDERS:
If you have any questions for the Board of Directors or comments on the newsletter, call Borg Property Services or attend
the monthly Board meeting.

It is a Town of Gilbert ordinance that your dog is on a 6-foot lease when you are walking
your dog. This includes in Freestone Park.

When you walk your pet, please clean up any messes that it leaves behind. To leave
their mess is an HOA violation and a Town of Gilbert Code violation.

All residents are encouraged to attend the monthly Board of Directors meetings. Call
Borg Property Services for the time and location and to insure that we have available seating.

SELLING YOUR HOME?
Please help yourself by telling your title company that a sale is pending and that they must notify Borg Property Services of
the pending sale. Borg Property Services has seven (7) days to inspect your house before the sale can be completed.
(House bill 2299) If the inspection must be done in less than seven (7) days because they did not notify Borg Property
Services, then we will charge the homeowner an extra fee. We have known title companies to ask for a rush inspection
because they did not notify Borg Property Services, and the homeowner is the one charged the extra fee.
