A MONTHLY NEIGHBORHOOD NEWSLETTER
NOVEMBER 1999
------------------------------------------------------
NOTE:
If you should want to print the newsletter from this Web page, the easiest way to do this is to use Cut-and-Paste. (Select the part of the newsletter which you want to print, copy it to your word processor (CTLR-C and then CTRL-V), and then print it from the word processor CTRL-P.)
------------------------------------------------------
DIRECTOR'S CORNER:
POOL CLOSING
We will close the swimming pool on 11/15/99. It will be reopened on 3/15/2000. This is a cost savings action suggested at the Annual meeting.

TRAFFIC ON JUNIPER
We are still waiting on the Town of Gilbert to reply to our traffic study and to the letter that we sent requesting a three-way stop sign.

NEW POOL/ TENNIS COURT KEYS
This project was completed as planned. This is another idea suggested at the Annual meeting.

HOA WEB PAGE
Our page had more accesses this month than last month. ("Post it Here", 19 hits; Discussion Area, 12 hits;
Newsletter, 48 hits.) We will continue to put the newsletter on the web page when it becomes available, generally while it is at the printers. If you should want to print the newsletter from the Web page, the easiest way to do this is to use Cut-and-Paste. (Select the part of the newsletter which you want to print, copy it to your word processor, and then print it from the word processor.)

TENNIS COURT LIGHTS
The tennis court lights were not working because a transformer burned out and needed to be special ordered. There was also a short in the timer box. Both problems are now fixed.

VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE REPORT
Remember to call Sharon Howes if you want information on a committee or want to join a committee (480-497-8124).
Sharon will then handle the volunteer communications between the Board of Directors, the homeowners and Borg Property Services.

If you wish to help with the Paint Party, give Sharon a call so we can have enough food and supplies on hand.

ARCHITECTURAL CONTROL COMMITTEE ACTIVITY (ACC) REPORT
The new ACC form can now be sent to you via E-mail. Continue to request the form as in the past and if you request that it be E-mailed to you, it will be.

Remember to call George, Frank, or Borg Property Services on all ACC issues. George and Frank deal with ACC issues only; they are not responsible for handling other issues - like complaints about the HOA etc. For the fastest response, in all cases, call the proper committee or Borg Property Services.

The committee processed the following requests:
RECEIVED: 3 APPROVED: 3
DENIED: 0 PENDING : 0

Please remember that our CC&R's require you to have ACC approval before starting any projects that will change the appearance of your home or yard. You can get ACC forms by calling:

(1) Borg Property Services at 480-456-6927
(2) George at 480-926-3619 (Stonecreek Resident) or
(3) Frank at 480-926-4412 (Stonecreek Resident),

You can review the approved paint and trim colors by calling Frank at 480-926-4412 (Stonecreek Resident). Please respect Frank and George as fellow homeowners and contact them only between the hours of 10am-8pm, Monday-Friday. Leave a message if you get their answering machine.

LANDSCAPE COMMITTEE REPORT
There is no landscape report for this month.

THANK YOU
Borg Property Services (Nancy) appreciates all the kind thoughts and prayers during her recent
surgery.

WORK RECENTLY DONE TO THE COMMON AREAS:
Tennis court lights (transformer) and a timer box (short) were repaired by Hatfield Electric.

Plant Winter Rye grass in the high profile areas by Pacific Landscape. (Only along Juniper/Stonecreek Blvd. and the water Feature.)

On November 8, we will hold the long planned "flood test" of the tennis courts to resolve the "bird bath" problems.

CONTRACTS AWARDED
Water works By George - remove the algae from the water feature. (We ran out of the blue dye used to prevent algae. We now have more dye, but need to remove the algae on the bottom of the water feature to keep it looking nice.)

We will have the HOA owned property parceled into one parcel for tax savings by a real estate tax consultant.

We will make commemorative T-shirts for paint party volunteers by Roy and Ann T-shirts ($100).

Pressure wash the block wall to be painted, paint, supplies, and food for the paint party ($775).

UPCOMING CONTRACTS
Repair missing pool tile. This work will be done while the pool is closed for the season.

Pool water service,
Pool area service,
Newsletter.

As always, Stonecreek residents are encouraged to submit bids for any contracts that the Board of Directors will be awarding. Prospective bidders can obtain bid specifications from Borg Property Services. All contractors must meet appropriate license and insurance requirements.

VANDALISM
$19.94 - Sheppard hook for pool.
$65.00 - Fire extinguisher and glass at pool.

GET INVOLVED:
It's PAINT PARTY Time again. This is the second year the Board of Directors, Borg Property Services, and homeowners have volunteered their time to paint a section of common area block wall. This saves about two thirds of the expense of having it done professionally. This year we will paint the south side of Juniper from Freestone Park to Quartz. (If enough volunteers show up, we will do other sections.) While other sections of the HOA are in worse condition, this is a higher profile area. (The more helpers, the more paint we can spread.)

WHEN: November 13 (Saturday) 9:00 A.M. - noon.
WHERE: SW corner of Quartz and Juniper (across from the Tennis courts).
DRESS: Dress to paint outside.
DURATION: We hope to serve lunch at noon, clean up and go home.
TOOLS: The HOA will supply paint material (paint, rollers, brushes, etc.) pop, water, lunch etc. Just show up ready to paint. If you need to leave early or come late, we still would appreciate your help.

We also need help on the ACC committee. Like the Landscape committee, they generally meet once a month to act upon the ACC requests submitted.

You may contact the new Volunteer Committee for further information on a committee or for joining a committee.

GE DISHWASHER RECALL
GE has a recall on dishwashers, some of which were installed in our homes. The dishwashers in question were manufactured between 4/1983 - 1/1989. Call 1-800-599-2929 to see if your model is effected. You will need the model number and serial number when you called. These numbers are usually found on the door of the machine.

SELLING YOUR HOME?
Please help yourself by telling your title company that a sale is pending and that they must notify Borg Property Services of the pending sale. Borg Property Services has seven (7) days to inspect your house before the sale can be completed. (House bill 2299) If the inspection must be done in less than seven (7) days because Borg Property Services was not notified, then we will charge the homeowner an extra fee. Title companies have been known to ask for a rush inspection because they did not notify Borg Property Services, and the homeowner is the one charged the
extra fee.

BERLIN WALL
"With the aim of preventing East Germans from seeking asylum in the West, the East German government in 1961 began constructing a system of concrete and barbed-wire barriers between East and West Berlin. This Berlin Wall endured for nearly 30 years, a symbol not only of the division of Germany but of the larger conflict between the Communist and non-Communist worlds. The wall ceased to be a barrier when East Germany ended restrictions on emigration in November 1989. The wall was largely dismantled in the year preceding the reunification of Germany.

"It was the "site of U.S. President John F. Kennedy's famous "I am a Berliner" speech in 1963.... It was torn down by end of 1990, as Communism collapsed and the Cold War ended."
Bibliography: Gelb, Norman, The Berlin Wall (1987); Merritt, R. L. and A. J., eds., Living with
the Wall (1985).
