Skycrest Neighbors

Excerpts from Dec. Newsletter

Feb 29, 2000

1. Spread the word. This monthly newsletter is being passed to the 280 plus homes in the center of our neighborhood. If someone tells you they did not get a copy please lend them yours. The goal is for neighbors to communicate with neighbors.

2. Clearwater Police Visit. Lt. Nancy Miller and Sgt. Ron Sudler made a 30 min. presentation/ Q&A to our group on crime in our neighborhood. They provided us with a map showing crimes in our area in the last month. Surprisingly there were few and minor. It was a pleasant surprise to hear how, as is normally the case, our neighborhood maintains fewer crimes than the majority of Clearwater Neighborhoods.

Briefs:

The Homeless- it was stated that while they tend to be a visual nuisance, such as at Crestlake Park, they are normally not responsible for crime in our area.

Solicitors - it was stated that all solicitors must have a current permit from the City of Clearwater to legally solicit door to door.

Awareness- it was stated that neighbors are the greatest fight against local crime. If you notice anything out of the ordinary call the police at 562-4200 and let them investigate. You may save someone, or yourself, from a future crime by the same person.
