Mecklenburg County Offices and Services Closed Monday, Jan. 26 Due to Winter Weather

Due to the extreme winter weather, Mecklenburg County offices and services will be closed on Monday, Jan. 26, 2026. 

This includes all units of:

  • DSS Child, Family, and Adult Services
    • Hotlines operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect. To report abuse of seniors or the disabled, call 704-336-CARE (2273). To report abuse, neglect, or human trafficking of children, call 980-31-HELPS (43577).
       
  • Valerie C. Woodard Community Resource Center  
  • Ella B. Scarborough Community Resource Center  
  • Department of Community Support Services
  • Public Health
  • Land Use and Environmental Services Agency
  • Elections Office  
  • Tax Collector and Assessor’s Offices

Mecklenburg County Solid Waste and Recycling Centers: Closed

Park and Recreation: All recreation and senior centers, parks, nature preserves, and nature centers: Closed

Charlotte Mecklenburg Library locations: Closed

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management is providing information for residents to prioritize safety during extreme winter weather, including preparation, carbon monoxide, road safety, downed trees and limbs, pets, and more. Residents are encouraged to take extra steps to prevent frozen pipes.

  • When to call 911: For serious, unexpected, and dangerous situations requiring immediate action that may result in personal injury or property damage. Examples: medical emergency, downed power lines, downed tree blocking a road.
     
  • When to call 311: For information on public service impacts, clogged storm drains, downed trees not affecting public safety.
