"RULES"

Is there any way to get a list of "rules" that we are supposed to be following? We have lived here for over five years and have never been given any/told any. In fact when we closed we were told there was no association and then we were billed for dues????

And if this is a valid association, why are we unable to enforce the rules to those who are breaking them?

Happy, our " rules" were in our closing papers. There are things in it such as, no pools, no plants in front yards over 4' high, no clothes lines, etc, etc......... As for enforcing these rules?  ;0)  I've asked this same question. And, we're told to contact 311. Did this.......  they give you other people to contact, just a big nothing!   They were major problems, not little things. I agree what's "the assoc." for?

You can obtain a copy of the deed restrictions that M/I Homes gave us by e-mailing 1 or all of the contacts.  You can find them under "Neighborhood Information", "Neighborhood Contact".   Unfortunately, the realtor(s) misinformed you about not having a homeowner's association.   There is also a "Deed Restriction Reference Sheet on our website.  It is under "Community Pages", then "more" which brings up the other community pages we have on our website.

I do know that all concerns presented to the trustees/contacts have been addressed.  Unfortunately, the outcome is not always the result hoped for.

Yes, the deed restrictions were given to all original homeowners at closing.  We found out later that a lot of second owners were not told about this and that the realtor was not even required to tell them. 

I'm assuming that you are saying that you asked the trustees about enforcing the rules and that they told you to contact 311.  If you have a city code issue, that would be correct.   Just in case you didn't know, you can contact them right from the website without having to make calls, wait on hold, be transferred, etc.  Under the "Police & Safety" section---City of Columbus: 311, that link will take you directly there.  Then just submit a service request.  I've done it before and it really makes it much easier to resolve a problem.  Plus you can do it on your time, without waiting and even request that they let you know the outcome of your request.

The Association is needed because M/I homes made the entrances, access lot and detention area our responsibility.  All monies spent can be viewed under "Community Pages", then "Association Expenses".

You said your concerns were major problems.  What were they?? Maybe we can start a discussion about those concerns and maybe get them resolved.
