Our New Park

Aug 04, 2005

With the assistance of $5000.00 City of Jacksonville Neighborhood Matching Grant, the play field at the corner of Royal Lakes Drive and Allwood Court in April, was transformed into The Royal Lakes Park. Three quarters of the 90 feet by 180 feet lot was covered with Saint Augustine sod and the balance in Cyprus mulch and pine bark chips for the picnic area. Landscaping was added to the perimeter of the park as well as a walking/jogging trail. The $5,000.00 city grant was matched by the value of $1,250 in volunteer hours, $1,004 in vendor discounts, $1,805 in special home owner contributions and $4,372 in Royal Lakes Treasury Funds. Many thanks to the 26 home owners who participated in the work day on April 9 to complete the park by laying sod, spreading Cyprus chips and pine bark as well as planting five trees and 70 plants.

With the addition of several concrete tables and benches, the park provide a quiet neighborhood respite. A large open area for other activities is surrounded by the walking/jogging track.

We encourage all of the neighborhood residents to enjoy the beautiful new facility.
