My family and I are new in the neighborhood, and are occasionally woken up at night by a loud helicopter which seems like it is about to land on our roof. It doesn't happen every night, but enough that it doesn't seem like a random occurance. My only idea is that it is a medi-vac landing at the hospital. Does anyone have any information about this? Thanks.

Most likely you are hearing the St. Josephs hospital med-vac which lands at the Hospital appox. 1.5 miles from the neighborhood. We also seem to get a lot of the TPD chopper activity and that might be because of the proximity to some higher crime areas. After almost 12 years, I don't even notice it anymore.

It’s just TPD flying over searching for criminals that are prevalent in Tampa’s public housing units, like Robles Park, Central Park Village, and at Columbus and Rome. Like cockroaches, and rats the criminals like to come out at night.
