Neighborhood Block Watch

Neighbor-to-Neighbor Report:

First of all, thank you to Daran for hosting us.

 

General Business:

  • We now have 52 on our e-mail list
  • We have 10 Block Captains now – See attached map with their contact info
  • We had a great meeting with 17 people showing support.

  • Will someone call about getting a stop sign on 38thSt & Bloomfield going North/South I think this is the number - (Officer Terri Sells): 534-7733. Tell them you have trouble with speeding down that road.

 

Neighborhood Clean Up: Date set for  Saturday November 21st

7am – 1pm

Pot luck to follow at Kim & Alan’s Place – 3838 E. Bloomfield Road.

 

  • 2 dumpsters will be delivered, one on 36th & Bloomfield and one on 38th & Bloomfield. They will be here the whole weekend. (Delivered Th/F)
  • A tool shed will be delivered to 38th & Bloomfield between 6-8 am on the 21st. Kim will sign for it. See attached for contents.
  • Volunteers: We currently have 15 volunteers and possibly some Boy Scouts. Yeah!
  • April is checking on getting volunteers from the community college.
  • Any other thoughts to bring in outside help for groups looking to get community service hours please feel free to make those calls.
  • Next Steps:
    • List of homes in need of clean up.
    • Spread the word (door to door) motivate others to get involved or ask if they could use some help
    • Pass out fliers and talk to as many neighbors the Weekend of Nov 15-16.
    • Block leaders make calls to people on your list

 

Paint The Wall:

  • To be resumed at our next meeting in Jan/Feb
  • Kim will work on city & blockwatch grants in the interim

 

Block Captains:

Please welcome a few new Block Captains! This is a great start but could use a 2 more. Please see the attached map. If you would like to be a captain it involves, passing out fliers for the monthly meetings, the occasional phone tree, and maybe hosting a meeting now and then.

Next Neighborhood Meeting:

Due to the clean-up at the end of November and then the holidays we will resume our monthly meetings in late January or early February. We will have a guest speaker – Topic – Drugs in our neighborhood.
