Coyote seen eating someones cat!

Posted in: N Dodge

Hi,

At 7 AM this morning, November 23rd, I had the misfortune to look out and see a coyote with a long haired big black cat in its mouth! It was in fromt of the house numbered 2528 N. Baxter Dr. I raced out the fromt door, but it ran away WITH the cat still in its mouth. I share this as a warning to anyone living in this area who has outside cats and small dogs.

I had seen a considerable increase in feral cats, males especially who were fighting, since this spring. However, in the last 5 months I have noticed that 4 to 5 regulars I had seen are now gone. The coyote probably.

I suspect there are 2 neighbors in this area who let their cats breed freely. I have used the Humane Society's "Trap and release" program to catch and neuter around 8 ferals over the last 5 years but it would be better if we could determine who is letting the cats breed freely and address this issue with them. These ferals fight our domestic outdoor cats AND have now become such a good food source, we gained this coyote!.Any thoughts?
