Pasadena Vista Neighborhood Association and Neighborhood Crime Watch

 

Minutes of Meeting

Monday January 25, 2010

7:00 PM West St Petersburg

Community Library Room 101

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by President-elect Cynthia Burton

 

Cindy took the group through the new sign locations using pictorial over head.  One sign is located near the church is for West Lake neighborhood will need to be changed as this area is not a part of West Lake but rather Pasadena Vista.  Carol Gambrel is going to follow up on this with the city.

 

Bike trail – shirts are available for anyone who uses the trail on a regular base.  Contact Cindy with your size for ordering.  The picture shown to the group was of a bright yellow t-shirt with the words “Trail Patrol” on both the front and back.  No reporting or other action is required in order to receive the shirt.  The idea in wearing them is to create the presence and visibility of people watching out for the good of others.

 

2009 Carry Over

 

Jan Ranft will follow up on becoming a non-profit and what is involved to move forward with the process.

 

The group discussed ideas for increasing membership such as neighborhood gathers at local establishments such as Pick Pac for the Friday Wine Tasting or one of our local restaurants.  It was agreed that the first of these notices would go this week for the Friday night wine tasting.

 

We discussion of using the Web Site as a primary source for communication.  Jana Steinhour will work with Carol Gambrel to improve the existing site and explore additional information that can be added.

 

Janet Ranft would like to create a list of what the neighborhood association would use the $15 annual donations for.  This would help to show a need for donations and may encourage increased contribution.

 

Flyers: it was suggested flyers could be placed in our local business and churches to help inform people of the neighborhood association and the events and activities that are going on around us.

 

Janet Ranft and Greg Quinn will be working on putting together a flyer for door to door hand out.  Several volunteers have offered to assist is handing out the flyers.  Greg has generously offered to print the flyers.  The details of what will be on the flyer is still being worked out but in general the flyer will encourage attendance at the next neighborhood meeting.

 

Our new Major Bill Foster will be doing “night out” forums across the city in an effort to meet and greet neighborhood residents.  District 1 will meet at 5801 22 Ave N. on Feb 11th.  Residents are invited to attend.  Check the city web site for a full list of locations where these meetings will be taking place.

 

Edith from 430 70th Street N. will fund raising for Haiti through a lawn sale and general donations.  Anyone interested in contributing can contact Edith at 727-520-3428.

 

Our next meeting will be held March 29th, 2010 at the same location and time.
