CITY TARGETS NEIGHBORHOOD BRUSH, DEBRIS

May 11, 2004

We are coming into fire season. It is very important to keep weeds and tall grass cut and cleaned up. This includes the irrigation areas. You are responsible for that easement even if you do not take irrigation. A grass fire can easily spread to oleanders (which go up fast) shrubs and palms trees. Then it can threaten your home and those of others. Please take a look at your entire piece of property and do a good cleanup before it gets too hot.

The Fire, Public Works and Neighborhood Services departments are teaming up again in an effort to reduce the number of brush and debris fires in neighborhoods. Firefighters are surveying neighborhoods for brush and debris hazards and forwarding the location of possible violations to the Public Works and Neighborhood Services department for city code compliance. The city requires that lots, properties, alleys, and easements be kept free from litter, garbage, dead trees, brush, weeds and any other condition that presents a health, fire or safety hazard.
