
The topic of the essay contest was "What America Means to Me." The contest was open to all New London area youth ages 10-16. First place was awarded a $100 US Savings Bond, and two second place winners were each awarded $50 US Savings Bonds.
The awards ceremony was held at the Groton Senior Center on November 30, 2001. Kim Ploof of Pawcatuck was FIRST place. Thomas Franklin of Groton and Kaitlyn Moore of Pawcatuck won second places in the contest. Pictured above are Kim, Kaitlyn, and Thomas accepting their awards. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
