Good Friday and Easter Explained

"Good Friday" commemorates the historic day of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, about 1,989 years ago. This year, 2022, minus His age of 33 or so years old at the time of His death, would be 1,989 years ago.  All time revolves around the date, hence the saying of "In the year of our Lord 2022 A.D."  A.D. stands for Anno Domini which is Latin for "In the year of our Lord" believed by Christians to be the year of Jesus Christ's birth.

Historically, this has been commemorated on the Friday before the Sunday that is designated as Easter, which varies each year.  The crucifixion would have been on a Wednesday because three days and three nights in the tomb before Sunday is Wednesday.  See the King James Bible verses of Mark 15 and following chapters about the event:

To worship God on Easter this year, which is Sunday, April 17th, 2022, and celebrate the anniversary of His resurrection (raised from the dead), which happened 3 days and 3 nights after Jesus Christ was crucified, was dead and buried, please join us at Southside Baptist Church in Tampa.  You may join us in person or view the church worship service on livestream at if homebound.

This is the Gospel (good news) of Jesus Christ: that He has accomplished victory over death and Hell and will give us the same victory when we believe on Him, turn from and confess our sins, and receive Him into our hearts as Lord and Saviour.  We do this by asking Him in prayer to forgive us and ask Him to come into our heart and life as Lord and Saviour.  It is at that point that He gives us eternal life and his Holy Spirit to guide us during our lifetime.
