We have lived on this street for 30+ years and are extremely concerned about the traffic situation on 39th avenue. Are you aware of the amount of cars per hour that are using this street and about 1/4 of them are exceeding the speed limits by at least 10 to 30 mph? This is a problem that goes on day after day. I am homebound in a wheelchair at the present time and have ''nothing better'' to do but sit and count cars and watch traffic; even when we have children walking to school. We need help before someone is seriously injured. We need to ask the city for speed bumps, or other traffic calming procedures. Whatever we do we must do something or we could lose one of our most precious commodities---a child. -------- thanks

the city wont put in speed bumps because they say it will slow the fire trucks in case of a fire.... 

I would like to suggest that you call your Community Action Officer and let him know of the problem. He can probably get an officer to observe at the peak period when speeders are most offending.
