Jean - how about if you look beyond your nose!!!  Why not let the community vote on a DIFFERENT STYLE FENCE?  We've all heard you repeat the same thing...."no such material matching our split-rail design".  This time last year when I requested a vote on fences be put on the ballot, I made no such statement of "split rail design" and I believe the post prior to yours was asking the same thing.  Perhaps I'm a bit biased, but I think the three flat rail fence I currently have around my pool would look just as good around full backyards as it does around a pool.....so why not, as I asked this time last year, put THAT on the ballot?  As "HowsItGoing" suggested, rather than being a dictatorship and shooting the entire idea down, let the community vote on it.  Sure....it may have been voted down previously, but owners changes....thoughts change.  Do what's good for the community, not what's good for you please!

I am on the board and actually typed up the posted notes from that last meeting. I am also about to work on the newsletter and ballot. Thank you for reminding me that we offered to put this on the ballot for a vote! I must admit that I had completely forgotten about it. I promise to put this on the ballot. Again, thanks for the reminder!
Apparently I misspoke when I agreed to put the item of a change in fencing on the ballot. I have only been on the board about a year and and am certainly not the spokesperson for what is and isn??™t allowed to change in our development. The difference between my understanding of what was promised to add to the ballot regarding fencing and what I am now coming to understand of your request are two different things. I had promised to put on the ballot that split rail fencing of composite materials would be put on the ballot. It was my recollection that vinyl is not the same as composite materials, which offer the ??œlook??? of wood but without the upkeep and attraction for bees that wood unfortunately has. The problem with putting ??œsplit rail fencing will be allowed in either wood or composite materials??? up for a vote is that after making several calls to local and web-based fencing contractors I have discovered that fences made of true composite materials (it cannot be in vinyl) are not currently offered in a split rail fence design. So unless you have found one that offers ??œsplit rail fences using composite materials???, it is foolish to add this to the ballot if it does not exist. If you instead want to ask about introducing a totally new type of fence than what was specified in the deed restrictions, it will take a more in-depth effort on your part to get that added to the ballot. Don??™t ask me why...I don??™t really understand all of the protocols of deed restrictions and it remains somewhat a mystery to me about how everything is supposed to work. I would suggest getting photos of a proposed fencing type along with actual samples of the materials that would be used to show at the upcoming meeting or to a separate board meeting. Just talking about changing fence styles without offering a detailed explanation (with samples and photos) of a viable alternative to the split rail will never get approved and is also premature to put on a ballot. Sorry for the misunderstandings.

First let me acknowledge my understanding that you are the messenger for the dictatorship currently running the MFMC. My frustration is not directed towards you at all.

As I have stated in multiple requests, I am proposing a vote to change the TYPE OF FENCE COMPLETELY(Jean - do you see and understand this proposal?)  Wood split rail is horrible....Composite split rail doesn't exist.  That horse has been beaten into the ground umpteen million times.

I would be more than happy to be in attendence at the annual meeting with samples and pictures (however all you have to do is drive down Mansion Farm Dr. to see the fencing I'm talking about) to the board and everyone in attendance.  In return, I'm asking for a vote to change the type of fence completely (material, style, color) be on the ballot to vote on.  If the majority of the "membership that votes in person or by proxy" votes it down, so be it.  This request, while made on numerous occasions, has not been on the ballot at any annual meeting as far back as the year 2000.  I've inquired when monthly meetings of the board take place so I can attend and have been told the community is not invited to them.  So how am I supposed to present information at an annual meeting AND have the item on the ballot to vote on?  The way things are run is a complete Catch 22.

If we, as a community, cannot get items added to a ballot because someone on the board doesn't want them, how is that a community decision?
