Barricades-39th and Clybourn

The Barricades

I remember being at a Valley meeting when the police where there and the officer said that the barricades and stop signs posted make their job a great deal easier in controlin crime.
Remember RE: Barricades

If my old memory serves me correctly,
I remember myself going to a series of meetings during the neighborhood planning stages and it was recommended by the consultants, city reps, county reps, and neighbors that the best thing that could happen was pt get that part of Clybourn closed off-
Attractive Nuisance, yes, thats what it was called.
Now was it not supposed to become a Tot Lot or something???

Yes, Tot Lot or

Yes, it IS in the plan to become a tot lot, or the City suggested it be vacated and the land be divided EQUALLY between the adjoining property owners for greenspace.
They would have had to share cost of moving utilities under the street, landscape, etc. It was pretty costly I think.
There was also an issue of each adjoining owner would have to AGREE to a street vacation or it cannot happen legally.
