BLM Flags Still Flying on NC Voting Site!

Posted in: Madison Park

A statement from the N.C. State Board of Elections on Monday said it is too late to shut down Carrboro Town Hall’s polling place for Tuesday’s election. But the board said if the town does not take the four flags down, the state will take steps to make sure Town Hall isn’t used for voting again “without written assurances from town officials that the flags or other communication will not be present inside the buffer zone or voting enclosure during voting.”

If it is illegal then the State Board of Elections should remove them themselves for the day!   That is what is wrong with America!

People don't follow the rules/laws!     Not only do that not follow them they get by with it!

The towns Mayor should be prosecuted!

Electioneering

N.C.G.S. §163-166.4 states, “No person or group of persons shall hinder access, harass others, distribute campaign literature, place political advertising, solicit votes, or otherwise engage in election-related activity in the voting place or in a buffer zone...” The buffer zone is normally 50 feet from the front doors at most voting sites!  Some have a reduced 25 foot buffer.    Others don't allow any signs or campaigning as part of a special agreement with the property owners.
This is what is Wrong with America.    Not anything is done for violating the laws!   The mayor should be locked up and the state should either remove the flags for the day or cover them.    Rules are rules and should be followed across the state!

Mayor Lydia Lavelle, born in Athens, Ohio, has a bachelor’s degree from St. Andrews (formerly College) University, a master’s degree in parks and recreation administration from North Carolina State University, and a law degree from North Carolina Central University in Durham, where she currently works as a law professor. After being elected to the Carrboro Board of Aldermen in 2007 and 2011, she was first elected as mayor in November of 2013. Now in her third term, Mayor Lavelle is a member of the Metropolitan Mayors Coalition and a member of the Orange County Visitors Bureau Board of Directors. Mayor Lavelle and her wife Alicia Stemper have two adult children.
