Sad News On Lamar Gunter & Tova Gunter

Posted in: Madison Park

I learned last night that Lamar Gunter one of the founders of the Madison Park HOA passed away this past March 2020.    Tragically Tova Gunter the daughter passed away in August 2020.

Diane Gunter the wife had passed away back in 2015.

Those of you that would of attended the Holiday Social back in 2011-2013 would of known the Gunters.  They did all the decorating and set up for the Holiday Socials.

Apparently Lamar and Kendall the son moved to GA last year.    Tova remained in Charlotte.

They were a very kind caring family.    They had many friends in Madison Park.
My condolences to Kendall.
Rest in Peace!

Ms. Tova Diane Gunter, 58, unexpectedly passed away on August 08, 2020. Tova was born in Germany, the daughter of the late Edward Lamar Gunter and the late Evelyn Diane Gunter. She was a life-long resident of Charlotte and is survived by her only sibling, Kendall Lamar Gunter of Milledgeville, Georgia.

Tova was an active volunteer for the USO, like her father. She had a giving spirit, fiery temperament, and a unique sense of humor. Tova felt truly blessed by the friendships she formed over the years. She was surrounded by a plethora of friends she adored, and she considered all of them family. Tova, in her wisdom, wanted to make certain that her friends and family knew how much they were loved, even after her death. It was her wish that the following be read to her loved ones:

In some way, however small and secret, each of us is a little mad… Everyone is lonely at bottom, and cries to be understood; but we can never entirely understand anyone else, and each of us remains part stranger even to those who love us… It is the weak who are cruel; gentleness can only be expected from the strong… Those who do not know fear are not really brave, for courage is the capacity to confront what can be imagined… You can understand people better if you look at them, no matter how old or impressive they are as if they are children. For most of us never really mature; we simply grow taller… Happiness comes only when we push our brains and hearts to the farthest reaches of which they are capable…The purpose of life is to matter- to count, to stand for something, to have it make some difference that you lived at all.”

A memorial service honoring her memory will be announced at a later date. However, at Tova’s request, it will not be held on a Wednesday.
