I think Aldi Foods has done one of the best jobs with trying to keep their customers and staff safe.  However I noticed something the last two times that makes little sense to me.

You are greeted outside the front door by Aldi staff with a clean shopping cart.  No quarter needed currently for the cart use.    They limit the number of customers and request only 1 customer per shopping cart.  Face Mask Required.

Here is the issue.   Aldi's at some locations have a process of switching out carts at the checkout.  You unload your cart on the belt, but most stores then place your items in the cart from the person in front of you.

Why go to all the Trouble cleaning carts etc. to then turn around and give the customer a cart someone else has their hand all over???

Makes no sense.

I decided to point this out to Aldi and got a rather odd response. Not sure if this means they will start cleaning carts at the check out or not. I know some stores don't even switch the carts.   I have family in TN and at that store they always have used only the cart you have your quarter inserted in.   So that is not a problem at all stores.  Currently though the carts are cleaned by a staff person outside.   If they are gonig to take time to wipe the cart down inside at check out as well before handing it to you they probably should just let you keep the cart you used inside the store for the entire shopping trip.

Case # 2044705

Thank you for contacting us.

In addition to increasing the frequency of cart cleaning, we will reinstitute cart-to-cart transfers at checkout for those customers who agree to allow our associate to place their scanned items in a freshly cleaned cart to expedite their shopping trip.

Kind regards,
