Terrible Auto Accident on Tyvola 6/15/20

Posted in: Madison Park

There was a terrible wreck on Tyvola this morning.  I was up ahead of it and heard a loud bang.  Looked into rearview mirror to see a car go airborne and land on its roof in the oncoming lanes.  It happened just at Seascroft Drive.   The second car was at the sidewalk also facing oncoming or west bound traffic with the front end smashed in.   I heard the bang before seeing the car go airborne so believe it took a direct hit to the rear of it.

One lady was out of one car being comforted by other drivers and neighbors, and at least one person was inside the upside car with the airbags all deployed.  Debris was scattered all the way back up the block.

One person running up the street toward the accident yelled she was a doctor so figured they were in good hands until medics arrived.

I thought the upside down car might burst into flames at first because there was smoke coming out of it.   Fotunately that did not happen.

Just learned that the second car was traveling toward South Blvd. or Westbound and was hit by the car that went upside spinning it around... That red truck was directly behind me mentioned in this updae from a Tyvola neighbor.

Marty,  You sere so lucky to miss this one. From the neighbors and police here is what we know.
A red truck was in the outside lane of Tyvola heading toward SP. On the inside lane was the SUV ( jeep?) heading also to Sp and she hit the big dip ( on Seacroft) losing control. It started to sway and she lost control crossing into the inbound  lane and flipping  and hitting a Nisson. It spun around on the other Seacroft corner. That elderly person was taken away by an amulance. The first lady was pinned upside down and released by a bunch of helpers stunned. Jennifer gathered her purse and phone and the neighbor got her a chair as she was in shock. One lady said that " She was a doctor." and ran to help. As it turns out they actually know each other and helped arrange another ambulance. It was a miracle for all this to come together. From the looks of it all we thought that someone surely died, but they were not. The cleanup continues with sweeper.
