Dear Adopt a City Street Participant,

What makes Charlotte beautiful? Keep Charlotte Beautiful wants to know! We’re partnering with The Light Factory to launch our first ever photography contest, available to all residents of Charlotte. The prize? Your photograph on coasters in breweries across Charlotte!

Submit entries by July 1st.  

 

How to Apply:

Contestants must submit a digital copy of their photograph to kcb@charlottenc.gov by July 1st at 11:59 PM. Contestants should include the following:

  • Title of photograph
  • Name of photographer (first and last)
  • Photographer’s contact information (e-mail and phone number)
  • Date and location of photograph
  • A short (1-4 sentences) description of the photograph, including how the subject matter represents Charlotte as a beautiful place.

 

Judges:

  • Keep Charlotte Beautiful Board Members
  • Executive Director of The Light Factory
  • Creative Morning guests (People’s Choice Award)

 


Awards (for top 5 photos and 1 people’s choice photo):

  • Coasters featuring photographs distributed to 6 breweries throughout Charlotte
  • Posters featuring photographs distributed at September Creative Mornings event
  • Postcards featuring photographs distributed through KCB at tabling events.

 

Contest Rules:

  • The contestant must be a Charlotte resident in order to apply.
  • Photographs must be taken after January 1st, 2020 within the Charlotte city limits.
  • Photographs must be an original piece submitted by the contestant. If the photograph is found to not be an original piece, the contestant will be disqualified.
  • Photographs must not contain major alterations. Minor alterations, such as color adjustment and converting to greyscale, are permissible.
  • The welfare of a subject and its environment must be placed ahead of the desire to capture a photograph. Upon entering the contest, entrants certify that subjects were treated with respect and dignity and that no people, wildlife or the environment were harmed in creating a photograph.
  • Submissions must be appropriate for all ages. Photos that contain sexually explicit, nude, obscene, violent, or other objectionable or inappropriate content, as determined by the Keep Charlotte Beautiful in its sole discretion, are ineligible for this contest.
