Staff Pick of the Month: Smokey
Hi! I’m Smokey!
I'm an active and snazzy pup that likes to go, go, go! I am a ‘Have a Heart’ Medical Fund recipient because I am heartworm positive. Through this fund, the Humane Society of Charlotte is able to assist with fees for treatment which is done at a reduced rate through partner vet clinics. Once I have a clean bill of health, I'll want a household where there will be a lot of adventure and activity.
To learn more about me, please fill out the adoption questionnaire under my profile at www.petango.com/HSC

COVID-19 Updates

We know that everyone is feeling the urge to get out and about - us too! Even though North Carolina has moved into Phase 1, we're not quite ready to open our doors to the public and are still focused on keeping our staff safe & making sure we are practicing appropriate social distancing.
HSC is currently closed to the public and adoptions by appointment only.
Current policies:
--> No Walk-ins
--> Appointments Only
--> Masks required for those with appointments

Adoptions Are Still Happening
The Humane Society of Charlotte is still helping animals find their forever homes! Interested adopters can complete an online application indicating their interest in a particular pet. Our staff is working hard to respond to applications in order of receipt within 48 hours to honor our first-come, first-served policy. Much of our adoption counseling takes place via phone to limit exposure once adopters arrive at the shelter. Our trained adoption counselors have an in-depth conversation about the pet’s behavior, medical, and additional history.
HSC Spay/Neuter Clinic
The Humane Society of Charlotte's Spay/Neuter Clinic is still postponing public spay/neuter surgeries, but we hope to resume soon. Our Critter Care Wellness Clinic is also suspended but our Essential Care services by appointment are going strong! Need vaccinations or preventative medicines for your pets?

Your Pup's New Favorite Hangout Spot

We’re pleased to introduce our May partner, Skiptown! Skiptown is a social oasis designed for pups AND their people launching this summer in South End.
Created by Skipper, a Charlotte-based dog walking company, Skiptown is a first-of-its-kind, tech-enabled pet care facility and beer garden. With over 20,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor off-leash dog parks, Skiptown is a BONE-a-fide dog dreamland.
Skiptown is just weeks away from opening in South End, and will feature NC’s biggest splash pad, an agility course, and 25 beers on tap for the humans.
With their professionally-trained team on-site 24 hours/day, your pup gets round-the-clock love and care and twice daily visit reports through the Skipper Pets app. They even have kennel-free boarding options!
With a mission to help dog-lovers and their pups live their best lives, Skipper is a proud partner of the Humane Society Charlotte. We can’t wait to see you over at Skiptown later this summer!
Skiptown opens at the end of July and they’ll be releasing more details over the next few weeks. Get VIP updates by visiting https://skiptownclt.com/.

Become a Kitten-Sitter

Finding Kittens? Be a kitten-sitter!
If you find kittens, its best to kitten-sit and watch them, but leave them where they are. Mom is most likely hunting and will return soon.

YAP Virtual Membership Meeting

Join the Humane Society of Charlotte's Young Affiliated Professionals Membership Meeting via Zoom on Tuesday, June 9th from 6:30-7:30 PM.
They will meet virtually on Zoom to share YAP updates and test your knowledge of the Queen City with a little bit of CTL trivia fun.
Here's a fun CLT trivia fact to get you started!
Q: Why is Charlotte's NBA team named, "the Hornets?"
A: In 1780, during the American Revolution, General Cornwallis lead his troops into Charlotte, but due to the strong fight the locals put up, they didn’t stay long. Thus, Cornwallis dubbed Charlotte a “Hornet’s Nest of Rebellion”.
