| May 5, 2020 To our valued Walgreens customers: The global pandemic we’re facing is changing so many things about the way we live, the way we work, and our view of the world around us. We’re thinking differently about our health, our safety and how to care for our families and friends in these challenging times. I want to assure you that at Walgreens, we’re devoted to taking care of you – now more than ever. The care we provide really starts with who we are – a pharmacy-led company that is a champion for the health and well-being of our communities. It’s our essential purpose – and will always be at the heart of our business. This video really captures the passion and commitment of our pharmacists through their Pharmacist Oath. I’m proud to be a pharmacist, and incredibly proud of our amazing team of pharmacists who live their oath every day. Caring for you – our customers, patients and neighbors – is our calling, and we’ll continue to be right there in your community to help you with your medications, answer your questions and provide the support you count on every day. As we think about our communities, we know this is a stressful time for families and it can be a scary and confusing time for our kids. So we’re pleased to join up with Sesame Workshop and AT&T to bring new resources to help families face current challenges and celebrate the families of essential workers – pharmacists, doctors, nurses, grocers, childcare providers, custodial staff, mail carriers and others – many of whom have young children. We know there are no better partners than our friends who live on Sesame Street to help us talk about this pandemic with our children. We also know the economic impact of the pandemic is creating challenges for many people to maintain their needed medications. Through our expanded Prescription Savings Club, we’ve lowered prices on hundreds of medications, offering savings of up to 80 percent off its cash retail prices. The program is now available to all customers,* including those with Tricare, Medicare and Medicaid coverage. Reduced prices are available on a wide range of medications used to treat common chronic conditions, such as diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, mental health and more. As parts of the country begin to “open up”, we’ll continue to adjust our operations in alignment with local, regional and national guidelines. Wherever possible, we’ll return to our normal operating hours. Please check with your local store to confirm when the store and pharmacy will be open. We are also expanding our digital and drive-thru options to give our customers more ways to meet their needs without coming into our stores. In closing, I wanted to mention our continued work to expand access to COVID-19 testing. Last week, I joined other industry leaders at the White House to have a meaningful discussion about how we can advance our testing capabilities across the country. We committed to opening testing sites in 49 states and Puerto Rico in the weeks to come, and we’re partnering with LabCorp to offer antibody testing at our LabCorp at Walgreens locations. We’re proud to be part of this effort to help get our country back to work, and we’ll work hard to expand access to testing as quickly as possible. Our team members continue to inspire and amaze me with the care they provide and compassion they demonstrate every day. Thank you, too, for your support and encouragement. It means the world to us. Stay safe,
Richard Ashworth President, Walgreens |
