The 2018 Mecklenburg Waste Management budget is estimating it will cost around $750,000 to pack and ship our televisions dropped off at full center recycling centers, and left curb side as bulk.   That amount covers around 30K units.    The county ships 8 full tractor trailers each month out of the county.  TV's like YW are forbidden by state laws from going in landfills.  Each TV has to be hand stacked in the trailer and shrink wrapped before going in the trailer.   Who would ever think it would cost that much to get rid of them.

I am Thankful we have as residents of Mecklenburg county such easy and really inexpensive fees on our tax bills to dispose of our Waste, Recyclables, and bulk items.

Did you know the city pays workers to unbag your yard waste at Compost Central?   Consider putting YW in uncovered reusable cans.    The county is going to push using paper bags that will compost and not require handling by workers this coming year.

Feb. 2017 was an extremely high month for YW.   I suspect this is in part due to the late dropping of our fall leaves last year.   These paper bags are currently available at home improvement stores.    I personally think the uncovered cans are in the long run the least expensive method of getting rid of leaves.
