TreesCharlotte celebrates success after its first A??‹rbor Week??‹??‹??‹??‹??‹

TreesCharlotte hosted its first-ever Charlotte Arbor Week from March 12 through 19. Over eight days, TreesCharlotte distributed almost 2,000 trees to 1,500 residents and planted almost 400 trees.

The week involved a series of events that includes tree plantings, educational programs, a networking event, road race, Citywide Free TreeStore and opening reception for K??‹??‹eeing Watch on air. Below are highlights of what TreesCharlotte accomplished over eight days:

  • ??‹Appeared on Charlotte Talks discussing Charlotte's tree canopy and North Carolina forestsyou are leaving CharlotteNC.gov ??‹along with numerous other media appearances and coverage

  • Presented an overview of canopy programs, TreesCharlotte and the Urban Forestry Institute??‹ to City Council's Environment Committee 
  • Moderated a film panel discussion on America's First Forestyou are leaving CharlotteNC.gov with more than 80 attendees
  • Hosted its first social at Wooden Robot Brewing with the Green Building CouncilYou are leaving CharlotteNC.gov with approximately 25 attendees

  • Partnered with Crescent Communities to plant 150 trees on the campus of the Renaissance mixed-income community and school

  • Distributed more than 1,000 seedlings to 1,000 students during the annual Arbor Day celebration

  • Participated in Keeping Watch on Air opening reception, which hosted more than 150 attendees and ended with raffling a tree

  • Distributed more than 150 seedlings and 25 container trees during the mini TreeStore at the Elizabeth 8K Race, which Mayor Roberts attended

  • Distributed approximately 900 trees to more than 500 participants at the annual Citywide TreeStore
