A zombie apocalypse is not upon us, but natural hazards such as hurricanes, floods and drought are possible in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area. You would prepare for zombies, so why not a natural hazard? Whether it’s building a disaster supply kit or developing a family emergency plan, being prepared is critical in the event of any real catastrophe, such as a hurricane.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management and Mecklenburg County municipalities have received public input on the 2015 Mecklenburg County multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) and are ready for you to review. The plan contains mitigation goals, strategies and actions for hazards in this area.

The public is invited to a final meeting to review updates to the plan. Staff will be able to walk you through the plan before it is adopted by the governing bodies of the City of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County and the towns of Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Matthews, Mint Hill and Pineville.

Public Meeting:

Wednesday, Aug. 5, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Matthews Town Hall 232 Matthews Station Street
Matthews, N.C. 28105
