City confirmed a truck is coming out to Clear Yard waste on the Tyvola end of Farmbrook today 11/13/14.    It was missed along with the 5200 and 5300 block of Londonderry yesterday.   Londonderry was corrected at 9 am today.   It was the 2nd miss in a month for both of these blocks.

Waste Management is sending out a supervisor to check the area today.  They are working with us and codes to make sure that routes are cleared in the future.     Londonderry has been put on a 1 year supervisor check.   Meaning near the end of the pick up day the route will be checked by a supervisor for the next year to ensure it was cleared of all waste.

A permanent yard waste driver will be assigned to this area to help prevent missed route stops in the future.  The trucks have tracking GPS, so the City can tell if a route or block was missed.  They can also tell what time a truck traveled down a route/block.

As long as you have your waste out the day prior to pickup, or up until 6:30 am on pick up day prepared properly it should be picked up.

Yard Waste crews are having to adjust for the earlier darkness.   They can't see the yard waste as easily as trucks picking up cans.

The issues with pickups has been caused in part by the recycling contract being currently open.   Drivers and staff are being pulled and shifted to get the routes done.

The back lift trucks do a poor job of emptying recycling materials out of the green cans since you don't bag those.  Those cans need to be flipped upside down to get the materials out.     We noticed on our block last week that the worker was going the extra mile using a rake to get the bottom layer out of the can.   That really slowed the truck down on each stop.

Hopefully the city will get a contact signed soon, and the drivers and crews will be given the correct trucks to get the job done.

City said to report missed stops to 311.   The sanitation staff works until 7 PM.   If you think you are going to be missed you can call 311, and they should generate a ticket.  I had a neighbor upset that 311 would not take her call at 5 PM yesterday.   City said going forward if that happens tell the operator you want a report generated.   That ticket will alert the driver so they can return if they have missed you or your block, basically ensuring a check of a block or street.   That will save them from having to come out on a different day to correct a miss, such as what happened today.
