Treebanding Grant is Approved

Posted in: Madison Park

Our Treebanding Grant is approved.  Some of the bands will possibly start going up by the end of this month.

Remember you can still band though Silver Duck at a special Madison Park flat rate of $30 per tree.  info@treebanding.com    Contact and Contract through this vendor directly if you wish to hire the same vendor the HOA is using for our treebanding grant.

You will not be able to receive the extra discounts that our grant participants receive, but you still save $10 dollars off Silver Ducks 2014 prices of $40 per tree.

The process is a 3 stop process.  Bands go up 1st step, tanglefoot is applied 2nd step, and then lastly the 3rd step (free) the bands are removed in the spring by the vendor.   You can also remove them yourself in the spring if you don't wish to wait for the vendor.

You can also buy by the length materials at stores like Black Hawk and do it yourself.  However I understand the tanglefoot is more expensive this season and it is a messy process.    Tanglefoot normally goes on around Thanksgiving weekend to the 1st of December.   You don't want to put it on too early because the leaves falling will stick to the band and make a bridge for the females to crawl over up the canopy to lay her eggs.

The good thing about Silver Duck is their bands stretch around the tree and only a few staples are used to secure the insulation strip under the band.  So your tree is not damaged by the bands.

All trees outside of Everygreen type trees, especially the tall trees should be banded to protect them.   If you have smaller trees under larger trees the worms can drop down to them from the canopy of the larger trees.

Silver Duck also offers sprayings in the Spring.

The band in the picture is exactly the way mine looked last year.  The squirrels used my band for a buffet all winter.
