Neighborhood Leadership Awards to be held Sept. 27 |

On Sept. 27, the City of Charlotte will host its annual Neighborhood Leadership Awards, a community celebration at BB&T BallPark featuring panel discussions, networking and the Neighborhood Leadership Awards ceremony.
The public is encouraged to visit the Neighborhood Leadership Awards webpage between Sept. 9 and 16 to view the finalists for the People's Choice Award and vote on a winner. The winner of the People's Choice Award will be determined by popular vote.

Neighborhood Matching Grants awarded to local neighborhoods |

The City of Charlotte's Neighborhood Matching Grants program recently awarded grant funding to Rose Croft Condominiums, Burtonwood Neighborhood Association, Grier's Grove Homeowners Association and Renaissance Homeowners Association. The four communities received a total of $27,356 to assist with paying for safety upgrades and signage in their communities.
Neighborhood Matching Grants are awarded four times a year, with the next round of applications due on Monday, Sept. 15. For more information about the Neighborhood Matching Grants program, visit nbs.charlottenc.gov.

The City of Charlotte and the Knight School of Communication at Queens University are offering a free digital workshop designed to strengthen communication in neighborhoods on Saturday, Oct. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 1.
Knight School of Communication faculty and staff will lead a 3-hour workshop to examine new digital tools, processes and practices that neighborhoods can use to improve communication and engage residents. These include tools for social media, website development, blogging, mapping and newsletters.
By the end of the workshop, leaders and organizers from neighborhoods and homeowner associations will be able to make thoughtful, strategic choices about sustainable methods of communicating important news, events and issues in a neighborhood. Participants will also be equipped with new digital skillsets.
When: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 1
Where: Queens University Knight-Crane Convergence Laboratory, 1900 Selwyn Avenue, Dana Building Room 110
Eligibility:All neighborhoods, with a maximum of two representatives per neighborhood. Attendance is limited to the first 24 participants.
