One of our senior neighbors told me she received a phone call yesterday that was supposed to be from one of her grandson. He apparently had been arrested and was in a SC jail and needed $1000 to get out. She of course told him she would get him the money. Long story short the phone cut off. Turned out her grandson was fine and not in jail. It was someone attempting to scam her out of money.
I have heard of this type scam before.
I have actually had e-mails on two of our City Council members that work similar to this scam. Stating they were out out of the country and were robbed and needed money. They always seem to know your name or something about you.
Not sure if anyone else in Madison Park will be worked by the Jail Scam, but be alert to this type of fraud activity.
