Billy De Rosa of Silver Duck Treebanding

We are coming to the point in our service where we remove the bands from our customers trees. It is also the time when we will start our tree spraying service.

Can you please post this info in your news letter.

I have attached our newsletter and some info on the organic spraying service.

If you were part of our Madison Park Treebanding Grant shoot Billy and e-mail about removal at Treebanding.com

You can also inquire about organic spraying services. This might be great for those of you that did not band.

Flier is uploaded regarding spraying on our home page / web site

Dear Customer

In the next few weeks, we will start our Tree Spraying Service process as well as our Tree Band Removal Service.

There is a limited window for effectively spraying your trees with B.T.K. (approx. 6 weeks)

Starting the first week of April, 2014 (worms must be hatching/feeding), we will start our tree spraying service on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS.  We will be spraying over 7000 trees this year, so getting on the schedule early is critical if you want to have the service. Spraying will start at 5 AM and conclude at dark on days when weather is permitting. Rain prevents us from spraying.

Tree Spraying Prices;

-          Current Banding Customers = $45.00 First tree/$15.00 dollars each additional tree

-          Non Banding Customers = $60.00 First Tree/$20.00 dollars each additional tree

-          Yard Package (includes all shrubs, flower beds, natural areas, etc) = *$45.00

-          We offer flat rates for large properties/Commercial Properties

-          * This reflects our average customer’s property.

If you are interested in having your trees sprayed, you must reply back to this email ASAP with a “YES PLEASE”.

If you are not interested in the spraying program, there is nothing you need to do. A tree banding associate will be to your home between  April 15 – May 15, 2014 to remove your bands.

We have attached some info on B.T.K. B.T.K is naturally occurring bacteria that only targets cankerworms and caterpillars.  It has no toxic chemicals or side effects and can be used on crops up to the day of harvest. It is the same spray the City of Charlotte used in 1998 and 2008 from airplanes. A special license in not required to spray this product as it is considered non-toxic and poses zero threat to people, animals, birds, bees, or other insects.

Thank you for the opportunity to earn your business!

Respectfully,

The SilverDuck Management Team

BT occurs naturally and is commonly found in soils worldwide

Using BT instead of a chemical insecticide to control canker worms is an important step in reducing your exposure to chemicals in the environment. It is also the best choice to avoid harming the many native beneficial species of insects and other animals.

It is important to realize that BT is not a synthetic chemical. BT contains the highly specialized protein crystals and dormant spores of bacteria. These are only activated when they are eaten by a susceptible species of insect. Unlike broad spectrum insecticides, BT is highly specific—that is, it affects only certain species of insects and has no effect on others.

Through a series of complex biological processes, the proteins disrupt the lining of the gut, which causes the caterpillar to starve. Infected canker worms may not die for several days, but they usually stop feeding immediately because their digestive tract is paralyzed by the activity of the crystal proteins.

BTK is the abbreviation for Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki, the subspecies that is currently used most widely for control of cankerworms!

BT is not a synthetic chemicalit is a naturally occurring organism. It is non-toxic to humans, other mammals, birds, fish and most insects, therefore it is a good choice for use on food crops. BT products have been approved for use on organically grown food for many years.

After the product has been mixed with water and sprayed onto leaves, it is destroyed by the ultraviolet radiation in sunlight within a few days. It is also degraded rapidly by high temperatures and substances on plants leaves. It is also washed from leaves into the soil by rainfall.

We look forward to continuing to protect your trees in the most non-toxic, Eco- friendly, GREEN application possible!
