Crowns of Enterprise Awards Nominations

In celebration of Charlotte’s Small Business Month, the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County are now accepting nominations for the 2014 Charlotte-Mecklenburg Crowns of Enterprise Awards. The Crowns of Enterprise Awards recognizes small businesses that demonstrate exemplary leadership and sound business strategies.

The Crowns of Enterprise Awards will award in three categories: Small Business Enterprise of the Year, Minority Business Enterprise of the Year, and Woman Business Enterprise of the Year. 

Businesses interested in being considered should submit a nomination by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 17.

LIVE Coverage of Budget Process Meetings

Budget

In an effort to provide residents with an enhanced level of transparency, education, and the opportunity to understand the City’s budget from conception to Council approval, all budget process meetings will be carried live on the GOV Channel, Cable 16 or Digital 97-2, and online at GOVChannel.charmeck.org

The next City Council budget workshop will be held on Wednesday, March 19 at 3 p.m.

Police Community Relations Awards

Nominations are being accepted for the 35th Annual Police Community Relations Awards sponsored by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee (CRC).

An annual feature of Charlotte’s Law Enforcement Week celebration, the award recognizes officers and work teams from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for building positive, problem-solving relationships with individual citizens and neighborhood groups.

Charlotte Career Discovery Day

This April, 4,000 local high school students will attend the city’s first Charlotte Career Discovery Day, a district-wide career exploration event hosted by the Mayor’s Youth Employment Program and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

Scheduled to be held at The Park Expo on Wednesday, April 9, Career Discovery Day will provide youth with the opportunity to interact with Mayor Patrick Cannon and local government officials, business executives and leading professionals in the following industries: finance; health sciences; human services; local government; and science, technology, engineering and math.

The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) wants to ensure the public is involved every step of the way as it prepares to enter project development for Phase 2 of the CityLYNX Gold Line, the 10-mile streetcar system that is an integral part of the 2030 Transit Corridor System Plan.
