Roads
The Charlotte Department of Transportation (CDOT) focues on residential streets last night. Residents are encouraged to help clean and salt sidewalks. Black ice is possible; please use caution.
 
Solid Waste Services
Solid Waste Services is operating on a two-hour delay today. Residents scheduled for trash, recycling and bulky item pickup for Wednesday or Thursday will receive collection today. Yard waste pickup is suspended for the rest of the week and will resume Monday, February 3. Multifamily collection services, street sweeping, litter collection and dead animal collection services will resume today. More information here.
 
CATS
All CATS buses are back on regular routes, except for those listed below (scroll down on this page). There may be some delays as buses navigate side streets still containing ice. Rail service is running a regular schedule. Riders are encouraged to check www.ridetransit.org for real-time detour updates.
Libraries
Will open at noon today.
 
Warming station
A warming station at the Hal Marshall Center Annex, 618 N. College Street, will stay open until noon today. Overnight accommodations are not available; however, staff will direct residents in need of shelter. More information here.
 
Charlotte-Douglas International Airport
The airport is open and operational. No major delays in arrivals and departures as of last night at 5 p.m.. There are some cancellations in departures. Roadways to the airport are in good condition. All runways and taxiways are clear and free of ice and snow. De-icing continues. Passengers should check their flight status with the airline before leaving to come to the airport.
 
Charlotte Fire Department
CFD reminds residents never to use any heating device indoors that uses gasoline, propane, natural gas or charcoal. Make sure space heaters have at least three feet of room around them. Avoid using candles for emergency lighting. Use flashlights instead.
 
CMPD
CMPD responded to nearly 97 calls for vehicle wrecks between 10:30 am and 4:30 p.m. yesterday, one of which was an accident with injury. There were 27 calls for traffic blockage and disabled vehicles yesterday. CMPD reminds drivers to keep a safe following distance and use extra caution on side roads.
