We did not win this time, but will try again in the future. Congrats to the neighborhoods below that will getting art for their communities! We will have a very busy spring anyway with the Pinewood Freedom School Grant & the Neighborhood School retreat that will provide us 8K for a future project at Pinewood.
On behalf of the Arts & Science Council Public Art Program and the City of Charlotte, I would like to thank you for submitting an application for your neighborhood to be considered for the Neighborhoods in Creative pARTnership Project. In total, 22 neighborhoods applied for the program and five were selected by the Neighborhood Selection Panel to receive funding for public art based off the stated criteria. Unfortunately, your neighborhood was not among the five selected. The selected communities are Elizabeth, Grove Park, Sedgefield, Shamrock Drive Corridor and Reid Park.
The Arts & Science Council together with the City of Charlotte hopes to offer this opportunity again in the future and we encourage you to re-apply. Responses to this new initiative show that there is strong interest in bringing more public art to Charlotte’s neighborhoods. The Arts & Science Council and the Public Art Commission will continue to investigate ways to assist in making this happen. We thank you for your application and your interest in bringing art into Charlotte’s neighborhoods.
Sincerely,
Nicole Bartlett
