Tyvola Senior Center needs our help!
Several of our neighbors in Selwyn Park use the Tyvola Senior Center for fitness classes, crafting classes, outings and other programs. The Center has experienced decreased funding and increased operational costs over the past few years, and it must raise $50,000 by December 31 to avoid cutting valuable classes and programs that seniors depend on to stay healthy and independent. Our neighbors need our help raising the dollars needed to keep these valuable programs going into 2014 and beyond. Here's how you can help:
- Make a donation at the SPNA Holiday Social this Thursday at 7 p.m. at Lucky Lou's
- Visit this website to donate directly to the Center
As part of the SPNA Board's commitment to participating in community service, the Board has committed to making a donation to the Center on behalf of the neighborhood. Please help our neighbors with your tax-deductible donation!
SPNA Holiday Social this Thursday!
Come meet your neighbors and ring in the holidays! No business; just fun and conversation over drinks and/or dinner. We'll also be taking donations for the Tyvola Senior Center. RSVP here.
Recycling, trash and bulky item pickupWe have a GREEN recycling week and recycling will be picked up this Wednesday. Print off a 12-month recycling collection calendar here.
If you have an item too large to place in your rollout bin, you need to schedule a special pick up. You can call 311 or make your request online here. Please wait until the day before your scheduled pickup to place your items curbside or you could get a fine of at least $50. Learn more about how to prepare your bulky items for pickup here.
Animal Control updateA few weeks ago, two dogs attacked and killed someone's cat. The animals are under a containment order with Animal Care & Control, meaning that they must keep their dogs contained (leashed, in a fenced yard or indoors) at all time. If you see loose dogs, call 911 immediately. They will dispatch Animal Control officers right away. As a reminder, please make sure dogs are always leashed when outdoors, and keep a close eye on your smaller pets likes cats and small dogs.
