** Special Attention Madison Park, Montclaire, Montclaire III, and Starmount neighborhoods **
Crime alert for possibly suspects targeting parked vehicles in driveways overnight (2:00 am to 5:00 am). We have had several calls about suspicious persons in and around residential areas in the listed neighborhoods above, and at least two reports of car break ins, but I feel there were more that went unreported (possibly because nothing actually was taken). If you see or hear anything suspicious at any time of day or night please call 911 and report it. Officers do not need to come to your house and you can remain anonymous but we need for citizens to call when they see suspiciuous persons, vehicles and behaviors by those both. These suspects that were seen were observed pulling on door handles and looking into vehicles for items to steal.

This is not something we are sharing to scare people or make you fearful, but this is an educational tool to remind folks to be cognizant of what they put/store in their vehicles and what other larger, major metropolitan cities are beginning to see in terms of car break ins and thefts. We have not had a documented case here in Charlotte, but I do feel it is only time. Please be mindful especially with the holidays right around the corner what you keep in your vehicles, regardless of where you park your car. Always ensure that your doors are locked and your windows are secured. And always call and report any theft or damage to Police so we know when and where crime is occurring as to better place our resources to ensure you and your family's safety.
