Resident reports possible Car break in attempt Montclaire area

Posted in: Madison Park

There was an attempted car break-in(we think) at my neighbor's house at the corner of Seacroft/Wensley.  She wanted me to email this since she is at work.  Her dog was barking at 4am Sunday morning and when she went to let the dog in she heard leaves crunching and there was a black male dressed in black/hoodie standing behind her bushes at her driveway.  He took off running across the street toward Londonderry running through the yards.  She called 911 and the police patrolled the area with floodlights.  Please be vigilant on locking your cars and not leaving items visible in your cars.  Call 911 if you see anyone or anything suspicious!!

Last week there was a string of car thefts along South Blvd. / Old Pineville Road / Montclaire South area across South Blvd. from us.     So possibly could of been an attempted theft.

If you hear your dogs barking or see anything unusual make sure to call 911.   This person called 911 and that was the correct thing to do.

I use to say if you get up for a drink of water, or to go to the bathroom during the night take a minute and looked out your window.   You never know what you might see.   If anything looks out of the norm call 911.  Most people are asleep and those out and about on foot are probably people up to no good.   They probably feel safer prowling around your yards and autos in the dark.

I had a couple of people ask me how to get individual street lights the last month.  You can start the process by call 311 and requesting an individual street light petition.   Todd Huss over street lights for City of Charlotte will provide you with details.    In short you will need everyone within like 75 feet of the street light desired to sign off on the street light request.   If you get all the signatures which are normally from 3 to 5 locations depending on the desired location the city will have Duke Energy install the light and pay the bill.   If there is a pole already up it speeds the process.   Again call 311 and make the request to get the process going.
