Meeting Reminder for 8/12/13 7:30 PM Wedgewood Church

Posted in: Madison Park
Join us Monday 8/12/13 for our monthly HOA meeting.    Meeting starts at 7:30 PM at Wedgewood Church.   Please put yard signs out now to remind residents of our meetings.  Remember to place them at least 11 feet of the curb.   This Monday night you can enjoy Libretto's Pizza, and sodas provided by the Madison Park HOA.   Come out and tell Andy Dulin goodbye, as this will be the last meeting of ours he can attend, before leaving Charlotte City Council as our representative for district 6 this year.   We also expect a number of current council members, and candidates for office to drop in this meeting.  The Sept. 10th Primary is quickly approaching.   Each drop in will be given the opportunity to speak up to 3 minutes. We will give Andy up to 4 minutes.

I hope everyone that came out to National Night Out in Madison Park enjoyed the perfect weather and the Ferris Wheel that I brought in for the night.  Thanks to all our many sponsors, and the residents of Fairbanks for letting us throw the largest National Night Out in the Charlotte area in front of your homes.  I know some of you really like the party as you have told me this week how much you like it, and that you feel lucky to have it outside your front doors.

We also have a message from our Code Enforcement Officer Jessica Cummings.  She alerted us yesterday that the waste management folks are complaining to her that our residents are throwing yard waste in their roll cans.   Here are the rules from Charmeck.org on prep and placement. Yard waste is to go out the day prior to our Wednesday pickup,  or by 6:30 am on pick up day.  Please follow the rules.  The drivers can be fined when arriving at the dump if they have yard waste in their loads as it violates NC state law.   Not to mention what a mess you cause if it makes it to the recycling center.

Yard waste is collected from the curb once a week on your scheduled collection day provided the materials meet preparation requirements. Yard waste is made into mulch and compost for reuse.

Prefer to Use Grass Clippings for Mulch?

Leaving grass clipping on the lawn after mowing ensures that nutrients will be returned to the soil. Grass clippings are 20-30% protein and usually contain about 4% nitrogen, 2% potassium and 0.5% phosphorus as well as all the necessary trace elements plants need.

When leaving clippings on the lawn, adjust your lawn mower to remove no more than one third of the grass leaf surface at any one mowing. Any mower can be used, but one that mulches as it cuts is best. Use a slow-release fertilizer, water when necessary, and mow the grass at the proper height.

Expected at tonight's meeting.  Claire Fallon, Beth Pickering, Michael Barnes, Andy Dulin all current City Council members.    Also expected tonight is candidate Nancy Wiggins for @ large city council,  and District 6 candidate Ken Lindholm

Others will probably drop by tonight.
