2013 Recycle & Win Program

Recycle and Win

The City is partnering again with Coca-Cola, Harris Teeter and Mecklenburg County to promote residential recycling through the Recycle & Win program scheduled to begin on Monday, June 17. The six-month campaign will offer residents an opportunity to win a $50 Harris Teeter gift card for recycling correctly.

Residents will soon be receiving program details in the mail along with the YES! sticker that depicts what can and can’t be recycled and the Give It Back sticker which residents can place on their recycling container to opt in to the program. Additional mailers and stickers will be available at all Harris Teeter locations in Mecklenburg County.

Plastic Bag Recycling Tips

Plastic Bag Recycling

Plastic bags are recyclable, but not in your recycling cart.  Please be sure not to bag your recyclables or place plastic bags in your cart so they won't clog machinery at the recycling facility.

Instead, drop off clean, empty plastic bags at a collection site so they can be recycled into new bags or home building products. Many grocery and home improvement stores accept plastic bags for recycling. Click here to search for the nearest drop-off location.
