Marty!

I wanted to follow up with you after our committee meeting discussing Wedgewood and Seneca. The group recommended the plan shown in the sketch below. We have placed the work on our list and are hoping that funding can be available sooner rather than later.

We are looking to appreciably shorten up the crossing distances and pinch down the travel lanes to further slow traffic. I think this is a good plan.

As you know there is a Storm Water project planned at this corner but it is a few years off. I don’t know when exactly we will have funding but I’m hoping it will be sooner rather than later.

Orginally we were told that we could not add stop signs because the intersection was too wide.   I noticed on the new plan it showed no stops. I inquired and this was the reply from Chip Gallup with CDOT. 

Marty:

I think step one will be the tightening up of the radii and then possibly an all-way stop. There are folks here that fight me when it comes to stop signs but I think it would be a natural place for this treatment.

If I have anything to do with it, I would advocate for making extra stop signs part of this plan.

I guess we will see down the road.

How is that for a “I really can’t say at this point” answer?

Hopefully City council can cough up some funds.    I have asked the @Large, District Council, and the new City Manager to please see what they can do to speed this up.

This came back up as a priority concern of our residents based on the fact that Pinewood will become a true neighborhood school next fall, Madison Central Park is busy, and the Wedgewood Farmers Market is doing a great business. 

The intersection is really a safety concern and we are pleased the safety committee agreed it should be changed.

I have a really cheap and easy fix for this issue:  Cut down the overgrown weeds/bushes in the side yard of the house that backs up to Madison Park.  Sight issues dramatically improved.  No construction or disruption.
