April 24, 2013 Ron Carlee Participates in Community Forum On Thursday, April 25, join Charlotte City Manager Ron Carlee and other panelists for WFAE’s public conversation, “One Charlotte or Many? A Neighborhood Perspective.“ Panelists and audience members will discuss the dynamics of Charlotte neighborhoods and the vibrant Uptown area, and how they impact our quality of life. This event will be moderated by WFAE’s Julie Rose and panelists include: Ron Carlee, Charlotte City Manager Diane Langevin, president of the Winterfield Neighborhood Association in east Charlotte Tim Timmerman, founder of South Mecklenburg Alliance for Responsible Taxpayers (SMART) Vee Veca Torrence, president of the Thomasboro Neighborhood Association in west Charlotte The event is free, but registration is requested (seating begins at 6:30 p.m.). Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is partnering with the mobile market to supply fresh produce at the CTC every Thursday from 3 – 6 p.m. through Thursday, October 24. The project supports Mayor Anthony Foxx’s “Healthy Children, Healthy Families” Democratic National Convention legacy program by helping to increase access to natural foods and promoting healthy lifestyles. Charlotte is 17 days of bicycle-related events and promotions used to empower the citizens of Charlotte to incorporate the bicycle into their daily lives. The theme this year is “Riding for a Better Community.” Events kick-off with the Mayor’s Ride/Bike to Breakfast in Uptown on Friday, April 26. Other events include guided rides, bike tours, kids’ bicycle safety roadeos, maintenance clinics, mountain bike races, bike demos and the Big BINGO Bike Ride Festival. Events run from Friday, April 26 until Friday, May 12. Promotions include free rides on CATS buses or LYNX from May 5 – 11 when you bike to transit.
