Curb It! the Right Way

Use the tips below to properly dispose of your garbage, yard waste, recyclables and bulky items.

Bag It!

  • Bag all garbage before placing it in the rollout cart
  • Do not overfill the cart

Prep It!

  • Cut limbs/logs to no more than five feet in length and four inches in diameter
  • Place leaves in untied plastic bags or uncovered trash cans

Recycle It!

  • Rinse out bottles/containers and remove lids
  • Do not bag recyclables

Schedule It!

  • There are nearly 60 bulky items, including household furniture and appliances, that can be scheduled for collection by calling 311 or visiting curbit.charlottenc.gov.

After preparing collection items, place them curbside by 6:30 am on collection day. Please do not block the sidewalk.

Remember to remove the stands from your Christmas trees and metal rings and red bows from your wreaths before putting them on the curb.

Solid waste (yard waste) will not take your trees or wreaths with these items still attached.

The processing equipement and employees do not have the time nor resources to remove them for you - do it right!
