Reinvigorated residents enjoy living in 1940s community

Shortly after Tabitha Carnes Warren moved to the Selwyn Park neighborhood, she noticed something that was missing in other places she’s lived.
“There’s a real sense of community here, a sense of real neighbors,” said Warren, who moved to the area three years ago. “I know from experience that this isn’t the kind of feeling you get in a lot of places.”
She was talking on Sept. 22 at Selwyn Park’s fifth annual block party, which was designed to help further unify and organize the 220-home community that’s bordered by Park Road, Seneca Place and Little Hope Creek. The neighborhood, which dates to the late 1940s, is building a sense of shared purpose that has some exciting momentum.
