Meeting on Tennis Courts at Queens Sports Complex tonight 6:30

Posted in: Madison Park

At Marion Diehl,

Tennis courts have always been part of the plans.  They are even mentioned prior to the ground breaking.

If you would like to see detailed history refer to our minutes on line for the entire calendar year of 2004.

During that Year, Queens, Parks and Recreation, and our on Liaison provide the HOA with details of the plans and negotiations with Queens.

If you want to attend the meeting tonight...pull the info up in our 10/12 HOA meetings.  There are signs at the exits of Queens Sports Complex and the Senior Center on the meeting.

Buffer turns out to be at the same amount or a little greater.  Tennis courts will be built in 2 phases...1st phase cost 2 million ...2nd phase 2 million with a field house.

There will be about 100 feet of current woods down to the neighbors property lines.   The creek is apparently about the back of most homes along Seneca Place.    At least that is what we were told.   There should be a good buffer between you and the complex.

Some trees are going to be planted.  I suggested they make them evergreen type to block the possibilities of seeing the complex in the winter.   They agreed they could do this for the project.

Lights must be off by 11 PM 7 days a week.   Zero light should reach residential properties.

The tennis courts will go in the eliminated ball field area of the orginial plans.  Poles will be 20 feet tall verses the taller poles that would of been placed for a ball field.

There will be a retaining type wall built on the rear side to level off the fields.

Residents will have summer access and then shared access during other months.

The complex lease is 50 years, and not the 30 that was talked about during all the planning prior to ground breaking.   It appears this might of changed around 2008 ..but not certain.   Those in attendance recalled the 30 year term.  It is documented in our minutes to be 30 years from 2003 and 2004.

Contracts require the complex to be built out by 2015.

There will be one more practice field and some cross country type trails...that will be part of the existing trails.

They hope to one day connect to the Little Sugar Creek Greenway if funding can be obtained.

The plans will remain on our home page for 1 week.  After that we will store them under breaking news for a month.
