Leaves & Clear Bags TIP

Posted in: Madison Park

Had a resident mention that a blue warning was issued today by codes because leaves were not in untied clear bag at the curb.   The rules were no more than 19 bags left untied and the bags need to be clear for pick up.

Also do not put your leaves in the street.   Apparently a few residents have dumped all their leaves in the street unbagged.  These will not be picked up and will end up back in your yard or your neighbors yard.

You can also place leaves in open cans with the top removed.

These rules are to make it faster and easier for waste management Yard Waste Removal workers.

Another thing bad is if the leaves get washed into the storm drains.  This is going to happen anyway naturally with some leaves.    However large amounts will clog storm drains and too many in our streams and creeks are detrimental to the streams and any fish or wide-life.

Some cities and towns do vaccum up leaves.  Charlotte is not one of them.

City said they are changing their code violation card door hangers.  You can now use any color bag but they do not want any of the bags tied.  Reason it slows down the drivers picking up the leaves.  Also if you don't use clear bags they can't see what is in the bag with it being tied.

I think most of the leaves are up around this neighborhood...so sharing this for FYI for next year.

Thanks

We got a NUISANCE violation today as well. Bags do not have to be clear.  Ours are untied.  We are in violation because the bags are not to be placed along the curb any sooner than the day before pickup.  So, in reality, everyone in the neighborhood who has bags of leaves or yard debris on the curb for pickup any earlier than Tuesday is in violation.  Someone in this neighborhood has too much time (and 311 on speed dial)!!!
