Roll Cans off Sidewalks on Tyvola ...REASON

Posted in: Madison Park

I received a phone call today that someone had stopped in a white truck and moved all the cans along Tyvola last week to the grass back side of sidewalk.  Today the cans were placed  back of sidewalk on the grass up and down Tyvola after pick up.  Codes was not involved in this when I checked with them.  311 told the caller that contacted me they had no specific complaints regarding cans along Tyvola and were not sure what was up.

Waste Management called me just now to say that yes they were attempting to keep the sidewalk clear.  Reason there had been complaints that the blocked walks did not meet the American with Disability Act requirements.

Resident along Tyvola should place their cans in the same spots that waste management placed the cans upon pick up today.

Waste Management did state there had been some complaints to them regarding cans on sidewalks.

Just passing this along so other know why this change is taking place.

This might not be a bad thing since the cans from time to time get blown over or knocked into Tyvola.

It will also help those that need the sidewalk especially in wheel chairs to get up and down the street.

This is a great idea to remember for those that live on a sidewalk street. The city trucks are equipped with especially long arms and can go several feet into the yard for pickup of the trashcans with no trouble. Not only does it help those that are in wheelchairs to have a clear path, but also those of us that are walkers with dogs and just needing a level surface to walk are helped to have the path clear. Keep yard waste off of sidewalks also. HELP Keep those side walks clear!  Thank you for doing this.Kiss
