You may request your ballots now for any election in which you are eligible to vote in 2011. We begin accepting requests for absentee ballots for all elections in 2011 after January 1, 2011. The earliest date Ballots may be mailed for the City of Charlotte Primary to be held on September 13, 2011 is August 15, 2011. Ballots for the November 8, 2011 municipal elections may be mailed no earlier than October 7, 2011.

You can request an Absentee By Mail Ballot and vote from home in the next election by writing a letter that provides the following information:
- Your name
- Your Mecklenburg County address
- The address where the Ballot is to be mailed (if it’s different)
- The election for which you are requesting the ballot
- Your signature
- The type of Ballot: Democratic, Republican, Libertarian (for Primaries only, if registered UNAFFILLIATED only)
- Your Birth Date (not required but extremely helpful)
- A phone number or email address (not required but extremely helpful)

| A voter in this category must apply in person or have a near relative or verifiable legal guardian apply in person at the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections office for a Ballot that must be hand delivered to the voter. Our offices are located at 741 Kenilworth Ave, Suite 202. This option is only available for sick or disabled voters after 8:00 am on the Wednesday prior to each election but not later than 5:00 pm on the Monday before each election. |
