Pinewood PTA 9/15 Jason's Deli 4 to 10 PM

Posted in: Madison Park

The PTA has a Night Out planned for this coming Thursday, September 15, at Jason’s Deli from 4-10.  I’m late in getting this to you, but was hoping that you could mention it at your HOA meeting this week.  I don’t know if you’ll be able to print up the attached flyer, but I wanted you to have the information.  The flyer says that it needs to be presented, but our neighbors only need to mention they are there to support Pinewood and we will get a % of their purchase donated to the school.

Flyer is on our home page if you wish to print it.

We also have the calendar for Pinewood under the heading schools.

Adopting A Classroom- We reviewed the data that supported why this initiative works.

Thank you to the Optimist Club and Sharon United Methodist Church for volunteering to share this information with your groups.  We would like to get the word out in Madison Park as well.  Basically, we would like as many volunteers to mentor and support children in classrooms.

This is what Adopting a Classroom would entail:
  1. Commitment to mentor a child
  2. Willingness to come at least once a week

We want to bring as many volunteers to one classroom as possible.  Some volunteers may serve as lunch buddies or others may work with students on reading fluency or math.  Our goal is to have three classrooms this year that have at least 10-12 volunteers in them each.  This does not mean 10-12 volunteers each week at the same time.  It is a flexible schedule.

Career Fair- We began the initial planning stages of the Career Fair.  Ms. Scianna, the school guidance counselor, will support this effort.  We discussed holding the Career Fair in the spring and for a month prior to the Career Fair providing background knowledge and infromation to the students about careers and choices.  We discussed giving the students a list of Career Fair volunteers prior to the event so that they could plan which boothes they will visit.

Needs:

Volunteers to participate in the Career Fair on March 14.

Again, THANK YOU for your continued support!

Have a wonderful week.
