Neighborhood Alert:

Attention residents,

This evening we had a burglary on Burnley Rd in the Montclaire neighborhood around 6:30 PM.  Witnesses observed a Chevy Suburban, described as  gold or Champaign in color, pull into the driveway of the home.  The occupant who got out of the vehicle and committed the break-in was described as an African-American male in his early to mid 20’s, with dreadlocks or braids, and a thin build.  There were two additional occupants in the vehicle that did not get out and were only described as African-American males.

Last Friday evening, July 8th, we had two burglaries in the Starmount neighborhood with consistent suspect vehicle and occupant descriptions.  One of these break-ins occurred on Mapleridge Dr and the other was on Woodstock Dr.  Both occurred in the early evening hours, likely between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM.  No occupants were home at the time of any of these break-ins.  Theft of property has been the motive in these cases.

I am asking all citizens to be alert and watchful for any vehicle matching this description loitering in your neighborhoods.  If you see a vehicle matching the description above and you do not recognize the vehicle or occupants please call 911.  Please watch out for your neighbors when you know they are not home.

Please share this information with as many neighbors as possible.  We are increasing our patrols in the neighborhood but need citizen assistance.  If you have any information please e-mail me or call the Westover Office at 704-432-2442 and ask to speak with me or a Burglary Detective.

Thank you.

Interesting that parts of the South Side of Tyvola were having power failures in that time frame yesterday.

This breaks pattern with when these normally tend to happen, which is during the day when more people are at work.  This one of course being smack in the evening when people are home.   Anyone seeing this vehicle around should not hesitate to call 911 and report.  Make sure to watch for any people not known pulling in and out of driveways.  Especially those that might split up with one person heading to the back of the property and the other to the front.

I know around 9 PM just a couple of weeks ago a neighbor told me her outside lights came on that lives on Seacroft and three young men were under her carport.  They left on foot after cursing about the light coming on.  A nearby neighbor called 911 to report.
