Healthy Eating Support Group 

 

Lifestyle change and maintenance requires support! Join us as we learn about healthy eating, cooking , local foods and the importance of food safety.This program consists of 6 consecutive Thursday sessions and incorporates education into a supportive format.

In preparation for the abundant harvest of local foods that awaits us, the Family and Consumer Sciences program is partnering with the Marion Diehl Recreation Center to provide savvy food workshops to get you started. Easy, healthy and economical... it can be done! Join us for an educational workshop on how to prepare easy and healthy meals while maintaining your budget. 

 

The workshop will include: educational presentation, take home resources and a food demonstration.

Healthy, Quick and Easy Meals 

May 10. 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Eating healthy doesn't require the skills of a gourmet chef! With a little effort, creativity and a dash of zeal, you can create tasty healthy meals in no time. Join us for a workshop on how to create healthy meals, infused with fresh local ingredients,  in 30 minutes or less! 

 

 

This workshop will include: cooking demonstration, tasting and take-home resources.

Local Foods 101

Locavore, food miles, organic, grass-fed...sound like a foreign language? Fret not, during this interactive workshop we will discover the importance and power of local food. Come and learn about local food and the NC 10% initiative, a program to expand the local food economy!

Garden 2 You

Come out to a NEW,

one-of-a-kind farmers market!

 

Vegetables, herbs and plants will be available for purchase, to benefit the Therapeutic Recreation Summer Camp scholarship fund.

Produce and plants will be grown by the Gifted Gardeners TR

horticulture class, and donated or sold by local gardeners.

The

Garden 2 You market is a great place to find the freshest local food, in your neighborhood!

*All proceeds go directly to Partners for Parks—TR Summer Camp Scholarship Fund*
